There is nothing short of a face lift that will give you a more youthful appearance than a whiter, brighter, shinier smile. We naturally associate white teeth with youth and vitality, which makes sense because teeth naturally become less white and radiant as we age. If you want to look more youthful and have a great smile, here are some great teeth whitening tips and strategies to remember:
o Avoid foods that discolor the teeth. Coffee, cola, tea, chocolate, red wine and blueberries all discolor the teeth. If you do eat these foods, try to brush your teeth as soon after as possible.
o Avoid smoking. Cigarette smoke turns everything yellow – your fingertips, the walls in your house, and your teeth.
o Try some of the at-home tooth whiteners. There are strips you can put on your teeth, trays you can fill with whitener and clamp down on, and so on. They are not hard to use, for the most part.
o Use baking soda as a toothpaste. Baking soda has been used forever as a great product for brushing teeth. It does not taste all that great, but it will clean those teeth like crazy. It is often an added ingredient in whitening toothpastes. That makes it taste better, but you get more whitening power by making your own paste of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Most dentists will tell you not to use this every day, though, as it can be abrasive.
o Eat crunchy, raw, natural foods. Carrots, apples, broccoli and such act as nature's tooth cleaners. They can scrape away the plaque that adheres to your teeth and makes your smile less bright.
o Use a straw. Believe it or not, using a straw when you drink your soda can actually help keep your front teeth whiter. The cola stains the teeth, but the straw brings the liquid to the back of your mouth and limits the contact time with your front teeth.[ad_2]
