Anti Aging Supplements – What Works?

If you are looking for additional help in your fight against aging, you might not think about taking supplements to help, but you should. There are many supplements that can help with anti aging efforts and adding them to your diet can be as simple as taking a pill each day.

While you should get most of your anti aging benefits through diet and exercise, a supplement can do just that – supplement your life with extra help. They aren’t intended to take the place of your other efforts, but certainly you can add these to your already healthy lifestyle for an extra boost.

Remember back in the 1980s, when scientists first termed something called the “French paradox”? It was a concept that stymied scientists – why did the French stay so slim even when they ate rich foods full of butter, cream and red meat? The answer was in their red wine. They washed all that good food down with good amounts of red wine and that led scientists to discover the secret ingredient – resveratrol.

Resveratrol is the compound found in both red wine and red grape juice that helps the body fight aging. You can drink red wine or grape juice and get the benefit of the resveratrol, but if you want an extra helping of it, you can take supplements. These are now available in pill form.

The acai berry has gotten a good deal of press in recent years for its ability to help people lose weight, but this powerful berry can also help you with its anti aging properties. Found in Brazilian rainforests, this berry is known for its ability to reduce cholesterol and for its concentration of anthocyanin, which is found in red wine as well. The acai berry, however, has a much higher concentration of this antioxidant.

Acai also have a high concentration of Omega fatty acids, which are excellent for keeping your skin looking and feeling healthy.

Although many people choose to drink acai berry juice, it’s also available now in supplement form.

The goji berry is a relatively new addition to the world of anti aging supplements, but this powerful little berry is a powerhouse nutritionally speaking. It’s believed that the goji berry can help fight diabetes, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.

Aside from its disease fighting abilities, however, the goji berry is also thought to strong anti aging elements, due to the concentration of Vitamin C and carotenoids.

Many people get this supplement via a juice. The berry taste is often described as a cross between a cherry and a cranberry, so it’s a bit sweet and a little tart. You can also get the goji berry in a pill form.

Coenzyme Q10

CoQ10 is a supplement that has received a lot of attention due to its ability to fight cardiovascular disease, but researchers have found that it regulates the oxidation of sugars and fats into energy, and naturally decreases as we age. Therefore, people over the age of 40 can supplement with CoQ10 to help their body digest these things, which in turn helps the body to operate as a much younger vessel than it is.

Although you can take all of these supplements alone and in combination with each other, many people choose to supplement with a pill or other product that’s simply marketed as “antioxidants”. These can contain a variety of beneficial elements, including everything from Vitamins A and C to other things that can help the body operate more efficiently and therefore in a younger fashion.

When you shop for antioxidants, make sure there’s a good combination of antioxidants in the supplement. A good supplement will include a variety of antioxidants for the best result for you.

Good health that results in a body that ages well begins with diet, but it doesn’t have to end there. You can do much to supplement the things you already do right. Many of these make a good start.
